The purpose of the class is to provide highly responsible, diversified office administration for an assigned department or elected officials. Work involves responsibility for performing difficult and varied office and secretarial services, important public contact work, and administrative details for the Department Director and senior staff. The work requires the application of considerable independent judgment and discretion based on knowledge of administrative and legislative policies and the municipal organization in performing daily activities, and in receiving and processing calls and callers. Employee works with considerable independence in the performance of general office services and administrative routines. Special and unusual assignments are usually subject to closer supervision. Direction may at times be exercised over one or more clerical subordinates.
Requires a high school diploma or GED . Requires five years or more of experience in performing secretarial and office work of a progressively responsible nature.
