Subject:                      Resolution appointing one member to the Leesburg Public Library Advisory Board 

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends appointing one of two applicants to a five-year term as a member of the Leesburg Public Library Advisory Board, said term to expire on September 30, 2014.  The position was advertised, as required.

Analysis:

There are five members to the Library Advisory Board, each one is appointed by the Commission for a five year term.  The term that expired on September 30, 2009 was filled by Ms. Nora Hill who had been appointed to complete the unexpired term of Robert Duggan. 

There are two candidates for the position, Ms. Nora Hill the incumbent member mentioned above and Ms. Ann R. Hargrove who applied on Sept 30, 2009.  Ms. Hargrove has previously served by on the Leesburg Code Enforcement Board.  Both applications are attached. 

Options:

1.  Appointment one of the applicants to the Library Advisory Board.

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA, APPOINTING __________________________, AS A MEMBER OF THE LEESBURG PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD TO FILL A FIVE-YEAR TERM OF OFFICE TO END SEPTEMBER 30, 2014; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

            THAT the City of Leesburg Commission finds there is an appointment to be made to the Advisory Board in keeping with Section 2, Division 3 (2-92) of the Code of Ordinance of the City relating to the provision of library services.

THAT the City Commission herby appoints _____________________________to a five-year term to expire on September 30, 2014.

THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission of the City of Leesburg, Florida, at a regular meeting held the 26 day of October 2009.
