Subject:                      Resolution authorizing an Interlocal Agreement for repair and maintenance of street lighting fixtures with the City of Tavares, Florida

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of the Interlocal Agreement with the City of Tavares for repair and maintenance of street lighting fixtures along US Hwy 441 between Lake Eustis Drive and Huffstetler Drive.

Analysis:

With adoption of the Agreement, the City of Leesburg will perform repair and maintenance of street lighting fixtures located on Highway 441 in Tavares between Lake Eustis Drive and Huffstetler Drive on an “as needed” basis. There are 30 total poles and light fixtures installed along both the north and south side of Highway 441 located generally south of the Florida Waterman Hospital from the Inn-On-the-Green on the west to the railroad tracks on the east.

Leesburg Electric Department proposes to perform such repair and maintenance of lighting requested by the City of Tavares both after hours and during normal business hours as requested. Leesburg will perform such work and invoice the City of Tavares at the then actual cost for labor (after hours at time and a half), equipment and materials used, plus a 15% adder on materials and labor.

Options:

1.  Adopt the Resolution accepting the Interlocal Agreement as presented; or,

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

Fiscal Impact: 

City of Leesburg will invoice City of Tavares at the then actual cost for labor, equipment, and materials used plus a 15% adder on materials and labor.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT FOR REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE OF STREET LIGHTING FIXTURES WITH THE CITY OF TAVARES, FLORIDA ALONG US HIGHWAY 441 BETWEEN LAKE EUSTIS DRIVE AND HUFFSTETLER DRIVE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

            THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement  with The City of Tavares, Florida, whose address is 201 E Main Street, P O Box 1068, Tavares, Florida 32778 for repair and maintenance of street lighting fixtures located on Highway 441 in Tavares between Lake Eustis Drive and Huffstetler Drive on an “as needed” basis.

 THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.
