Subject: Resolution of the Community Redevelopment Agency recommending to the City Commission an amendment to a Matching Sign Grant Program to add the Greater Leesburg Community Redevelopment Agency
Staff Recommendation:
Staff recommends supporting the amendment to the Matching Sign Grant Program to add the Greater Leesburg Community Redevelopment Agency.
Analysis:
The Greater Leesburg Community Redevelopment Agency believes that the Matching Sign Grant Program by providing public CRA matching funds on a percentage basis for replacement of ground/freestanding signs to match property owners funds to pay for sign improvements/replacement will enhance and promote the goals of the CRA. Inadvertently, the Greater Leesburg CRA which has a boundary along the US Hwy 441/27 corridor was not included in the program (See map attachment). The program will be subject to the availability of CRA funds annually.
Options:
1. Adopt the resolution recommending to the City Commission adoption of the amendment to the Matching Sign Grant Program to include the Greater Leesburg Community Redevelopment Agency district.; or
2. Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate
Fiscal Impact:
The CRA district will have a negative impact on their annual budget do to the cost of the program.

A RESOLUTION OF THE GREATER LEESBURG COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY (THE “AGENCY”), RECOMMENDING TO THE CITY COMMISSION AN AMENDMENT TO THE MATCHING SIGN GRANT PROGRAM TO INCLUDE THE GREATER LEESBURG COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Greater Leesburg Community Redevelopment Agency (The Agency), was formed to facilitate the redevelopment of the Community Redevelopment Area (the “Area”) including the area along U.S. Highway 441 and U.S. Highway 27 in the City of Leesburg, Florida, and
WHEREAS, the Governing Board of the Agency finds that it is in the best interests of the Agency to recommend to the City Commission amendment of the Matching Sign Grant Program to include the Greater Leesburg Community Redevelopment Agency district., and
WHEREAS, the Governing Board has determined that adoption of the amendment of the Matching Sign Grant Program would fulfill the purposes intended by the Agency as stated above,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BOARD OF THE GREATER LEESBURG COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY:
THAT a resolution recommending to the City Commission the adoption of an amendment to the Matching Sign Grant Program to include the Greater Leesburg Community Redevelopment Agency district would fulfill the purposes intended by the Agency.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution shall take effect at once upon its passage and adoption by the Governing Board at a duly noticed public meeting.
