Subject:                      Resolution authorizing an agreement with Inwood Consulting Engineers, Inc. for post design of the Leesburg – Wildwood Trail

 

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of this agreement with Inwood Consulting Engineers, Inc. for post design engineering of the Leesburg-Wildwood Trail.

 

Analysis:

The City of Leesburg has been contacted by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) informing us that the plans for the Leesburg-Wildwood Trail need to be updated along with a request for additional information.  The requested information is required prior to the construction phase of this project in the 2012 funding year.

 

The City of Leesburg retained Inwood Consulting Engineers, Inc. under the original agreement to provide design services for FDIP No. 422222-1-38-01, Leesburg-Wildwood Trail from Jones Road to just past US 27 in the City of Leesburg and the Gardenia Trail from the Leesburg-Wildwood Trail to Griffin Road.  The design plans for these projects were completed in 2008.

 

The purpose of this project is to provide post design engineering and project management to include a plan update, Local Agency Program suitable construction specifications and project management for the construction of the trail projects.

 

Options:

1.  Approve execution of the agreement with Inwood Consulting Engineers, Ind.; or

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

 

Fiscal Impact: 

This item was not budgeted and will require a budget adjustment, which will be included on the 2nd quarter budget adjustments, to use available Recreation Impact Fees in the amount of $20,000.00.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH INWOOD CONSULTING ENGINEERS, INC. FOR POST DESIGN SERVICES OF THE LEESBURG - WILDWOOD TRAIL PROJECTS: AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

 

            THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement with Inwood Consulting Engineers, Inc. whose address is 3000 Dovera Drive, Suite 200, Oviedo, Florida, 32765, for post design services of the Leesburg-Wildwood Trail.

 

             THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.
