Subject:                      Resolution Appointing a Library Advisory Board Member

 

 

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends the appointment of Mrs. Carolyn Russell to complete the five-year term as a member of the Library Advisory Board, said term to expire on September 30, 2015.  The position was advertised as required.

 

Analysis:

With the resignation of Carol Schlachtenhaufen, the five-year term ending September 30, 2015 is vacant.  Mrs. Russell has completed the required form to seek appointment to the Library Advisory Board.  She has management and technical experience in her career which will benefit the Leesburg Public Library.

 

Options:

  1. Appoint the applicant, Carolyn Russell, to the Library Advisory Board;
  2. Seek another candidate of the Commission’s choosing; or

3.   Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

There is no fiscal impact.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA, APPOINTING CAROLYN RUSSELL TO THE LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD TO FILL A POSITION WITH TERM OF OFFICE TO END SEPTEMBER 30, 2015; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

 

1.       THAT the City of Leesburg Commission finds there is an appointment to the made to the Library Advisory Board in keeping with Section 2, Division 3 (2-92) of the Code of Ordinance of the City relating to the provision of library services.

 

2.  THAT the City Commission hereby appoints Carolyn Russell to fill the five-year term to expire September 30, 2015.

 

3.  THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.

 

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission of the City of Leesburg, Florida, at a regular meeting held the __25th ___ day of _July,__ 2011.
