Subject:                      Resolution authorizing execution of Task Order No. 14 with Jones Edmunds & Associates, Inc. for preparation of Florida Department of Environmental Protection permit renewal application for the City of Leesburg closed landfill

 

 

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends execution of task order no. 14 with Jones Edmunds & Associates, Inc., to prepare the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) permit renewal application for the City of Leesburg closed landfill for $24,800.00.

 

Analysis:

Jones Edmunds & Associates, Inc. is the engineering firm the City has used to perform compliance and monitoring services for the City of Leesburg Municipal Landfill and the Closed Landfill.  The FDEP requires the City to perform this compliance monitoring, and as a result, this is an ongoing annual cost to the City.

 

The scope of work is for Jones Edmunds & Associates, Inc. to prepare the appropriate forms and engineering reports for the FDEP permit renewal application, and to evaluate the landfill monitoring data to determine if it is appropriate to request that the FDEP reduce some of the monitoring requirements for the City of Leesburg Municipal Landfill.  The current FDEP Permit No. SF35-0124377-001 was issued on May 23, 2002 and expires May 21, 2012.

 

This scope of services is under the City’s existing continuing services contract for engineering services.  The existing continuing services contract was approved by resolution 8316 on October 27, 2008.

 

Options:

1.  Approve task order no. 14 with Jones Edmunds & Associates, Inc.; or

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

 

Fiscal Impact: 

Funds are budgeted and available in the current fiscal year.

A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Leesburg, Florida, authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute task order no 14 with Jones Edmunds, Inc., for preparation of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection permit renewal application for the City of Leesburg closed landfill for $24,800.00; and providing an effective date.

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

 

            THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement with Jones Edmunds & Associates, Inc. whose address is 730 NE Waldo Road, Gainesville, Florida, 32641, for professional services.

 

             THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.
