SUBJECT:                  Resolution authorizing execution of Amendment One to the lease agreement for the Venetian Cove Marina with DOPA Enterprises, Inc.

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of amendment one to the agreement authorizing an extension of the lease for an additional three year period at the Venetian Cove Marina with DOPA Enterprises, Inc. d/b/a Holiday Marine which provides watercraft repair services.

Analysis:

As requested by the Parks and Recreation Department, Resolution 8733 approved by the Leesburg City Commission on October 11, 1010, authorized the City to enter into a one year lease with DOPA Enterprises, Inc. d/b/a Holiday Marine (Holiday Marine) to provide watercraft repair services at the Venetian Cove Marina.

Holiday Marine has been providing good service to their patrons with no complaints being received by City staff.  Holiday Marine is current on their monthly lease payments to the City.  The Parks and Recreation Department has requested the lease agreement be renewed and extended for an additional three-year period as provided by the original lease agreement.  DOPA Enterprises, Inc. will continue to lease the location at the rate of $550 per month during the term of amendment one expiring September 30, 2014.

Options:

1.  Approve the Amended Lease Agreement with DOPA Enterprises, Inc.; or

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

Fiscal Impact:

This extended agreement is anticipated to generate $6,600 in revenue for the City each year of the three-year extension.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AMENDMENT ONE TO EXTEND THE LEASE AGREEMENT WITH DOPA ENTERPRISES, INC. AN ADDITIONAL THREE YEARS FOR THE VENETIAN COVE MARINA FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING WATERCRAFT REPAIR SERVICES; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

            THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement with DOPA Enterprises, Inc., dba Holiday Marine whose address is 1126 North Blvd East Leesburg, FL 34748 for the purpose of providing watercraft repair services for the Venetian Cove Marina. This is a three year term unless terminated earlier in accordance with the terms of the lease agreement. Monthly rent of $550 shall be paid monthly to the City of Leesburg.

 THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.
