Subject:                      Purchase request 44130 to Shutts & Bowen LP for employee and employment related legal services

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of purchase request 44130 to Shutts & Bowen LP for an amount not to exceed $60,000.00.

Analysis:

The City Manager has selected the law firm of Shutts & Bowen LP to advise and represent the City for employee and employment related legal services.

The City has used the services of Shutts & Bowen LP since September 2003 for various legal services.  The firm is used for employment related issues with general employees as well as fire and police union issues.  The City Manager has estimated the cost for these services this fiscal year to be $60,000.00.

Options:

1.  Approve the purchase request to Shutts & Bowen LP; or

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

Fiscal Impact: 

Funds are budgeted and available in the account listed.
