Staff Recommendation:
Staff
recommends the designation of Robert Glockler as the member to the Lake County
Library Advisory Board as the member representing the City of Leesburg. In
addition, staff recommends the designation of John L. Johnson as the alternate
member to the Lake County Library Advisory Board, who shall serve in the case
of the member’s absence.
Analysis:
The
current member and alternate member to the Lake County Library Advisory Board
are Jane Sewell and John L. Johnson, respectively, with terms ending February 28,
2012. In a letter to the City Commission
December 21. 2011, Mrs. Sewell indicated her intent to resign from her
appointment to the Lake County Library Advisory Board upon the expiration of
her term on February 28, 2012. The
positions were advertised, as required.
Robert
Glockler submitted an application to serve as the member of the Lake County
Library Advisory Board representing the City of Leesburg. Mr. Glockler served
as the President of the Friends of the Leesburg Library from 2008 – 2010, and
in various capacities on the Friends’ Board of Directors from 2006 – 2010. Mr. Glockler was instrumental in the Friends’
fund raising campaign for the new building.
John
L. Johnson served as the alternate member of the Lake County Library Advisory
Board from 2008 -2012; he has submitted an application for designation as
alternate representing the City of Leesburg.
Mr. Johnson is a retired school administrator and is well-known in the
Leesburg community. He currently serves on the Leesburg Library Advisory Board,
and served for many years on the Friends of the Leesburg Library Board of
Directors. He served on the Police
Pension Board from 1990 to 2009, and currently serves on the West Leesburg CDC
and CRA.

RESOLUTION OF THE
CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA DESIGNATING ONE MEMBER AND ONE
ALTERNATE MEMBER TO THE LAKE COUNTY LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD, SAID DESIGNATED
INDIVIDUALS TO BE APPOINTED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO A FOUR-YEAR
TERM ENDING FEBRUARY 28, 2016; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:
1.
THAT the City of Leesburg Commission finds there is a
designation to be made to the Lake County Library Advisory Board for a member
and alternate member to represent the City of Leesburg, the designated
individuals to be appointed by the Board of County Commissioners, in keeping
with Section 12-37 of the Lake County Code of Ordinances relating to the
Library Advisory Board.
2.
THAT the City Commission hereby designates _______________for a
four-year term as member and _______________ for a four-year term as alternate
member, terms to expire February 28, 2016.
THAT
this resolution shall become effective immediately.
