Subject:                      Resolution authorizing a Communications Service agreement with the School Board of Lake County 

 

 


Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of the Communications Service agreement with the School Board of Lake County.

 

Analysis:

The City will provide communications services to Lake County Schools under this agreement for a period of seven years.  The Communications utility will construct approximately twenty miles of new network infrastructure and lease some fiber from a third party in order to provide service to several of the most remote school sites. The Communications Utility staff drew on its extensive prior experience to closely estimate the construction costs

 

 

 

Options:

1.  Approve the contract, or

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

 

 

Fiscal Impact: 

The construction costs will be fully recovered during the first five years of the agreement through the monthly fees that the schools pay the City.  The Communications Utility revenues will increase over the long-term.

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH THE SCHOOL BOARD OF LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA FOR THE PROVISION OF COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

 

 

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

 

            THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement  with the School Board of Lake County, Florida whose address is for 201 West Burleigh Boulevard, Tavares, Florida   

 

             THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.

 

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission of the City of Leesburg, Florida, at a regular meeting held the _12th____ day of _March_____ 2012.
