Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends the Commission appoint two members to the Police Pension Board.

 

Analysis:

The Police Pension Board consists of five regular members of which two members are Commission appointed positions.  The terms are for two years and Chet Blackmon’s and Donald Gregory’s terms expired December 31, 2011.   Mr. Blackmon and Mr. Gregory have agreed to continue on the Police Pension Board, if appointed.  The terms will expire December 31, 2013.

 

Options:

1.  Appoint Mr. Blackmon and Mr. Gregory to the Police Pension Board; or

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

There is not a fiscal impact.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG FINDING THERE ARE VACANCIES ON THE POLICE OFFICER'S PENSION BOARD BECAUSE OF EXPIRATION OF TERMS:  APPOINTING _____________ AND _______________ TO FILL THE VACANCIES WITH TERMS TO EXPIRE DECEMBER 31, 2013; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.  

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

 

            THAT the City Commission of the City of Leesburg, Florida, finds there are two vacancies for the Commission appointed members of the Police Pension Board because the terms expired December 31, 2011;           

 

            THAT the City Commission hereby appoints ­­­­­­____________ and ___________to serve on the Police Officer’s Pension Board with terms to expire December 31, 2013;

 

            THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.
