Subject:                      Resolution authorizing the City Manager and/or Designee to Request Bids for the sale of City owned property on East Line Street

 

 


Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of the Resolution to give the City Manager and/or Designee authority to sell City owned property on East Line Street.

 

Analysis:

The City acquired the subject property by certificate of title on September 16, 2010.  The City’s involvement in the subject property originated from a code enforcement action.  Due to the lack of corrective action and payment of fines, the City pursued action to acquire the property. 

 

The City has been approached by several individuals who want to acquire the subject property for various reasons.  The property dimension are 50’ x 218’ and adjacent to a single family home residence.  The property is currently zoned R-1 Residential, and is a buildable lot.  Therefore, the use of the property should be residential only.  The Eastside community has expressed interest in having more affordable housing in the area.

Options:

1.  Approve the recommendation to allow the City Manager and/or Designee to request bids for the sale of subject property; or

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

 

Fiscal Impact: 

The current year housing budget can absorb an  appraisal report, which is estimated at $300.00 and a boundary survey at $300.00 for a total cost of $600.00.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND/OR DESIGNEE TO REQUEST BIDS FOR THE SALE OF CITY OWNED PROPERTY LOCATED AT EAST LINE STREET; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

 

 

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

 

            THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby granting authorizing to the City Manager and/or Designee to request bids for the sale of City owned property located at East Line Street.  The sales proceeds would help achieve the goal to provide more affordable housing. 

 

             THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.
