Subject:                      Resolution authorizing a Revocable License Agreement with Macerich Lake Square Mall, LLC for an emergency response staging area for the City of Leesburg’s utility operators

 

 


Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of an agreement with Macerich Lake Square Mall, LLC for an emergency response staging area for the utility operators.

 

Analysis:

The Lake Square Mall management team and City staff would like to renew the agreement for the use of a portion of the mall parking lot to stage utility vehicles and equipment during emergency or disaster situations.   The agreement allows any City of Leesburg utility department and/or their contractors to make use of the area east of JC Penney to stage equipment, vehicles and crews during emergency or disaster recovery operations.

 

The use of this area is a potential advantage during recovery operations where there is significant damage in this area.  This site provides a convenient location from which to dispatch and respond to this area.

 

Options:

1.  Approve the agreement with Macerich Lake Square Mall, LLC; or

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

 

Fiscal Impact: 

There is no fiscal impact associated with accepting this agreement.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE A REVOCABLE LICENSE AGREEMENT WITH MACERICH LAKE SQUARE MALL, LLC FOR AN EMERGENCY RESPONSE STAGING AREA FOR THE CITY OF LEESBURG'S UTILITY OPERATORS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

 

            THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute a Revocable License Agreement with Macerich Lake Square Mall, LLC whose address is 10401 US Hwy 441, Leesburg, Florida 34788 for use of a temporary disaster staging area at the Lake Square Mall

 

             THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.

 

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission of the City of Leesburg, Florida, at a regular meeting held the 25th day of June, 2012.
