Subject: Resolution appointing a new City representative to the Lake-Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization’s Technical Advisory Committee (TAC)

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of the resolution appointing DC Maudlin, Senior Deputy Director of Public Works Department as the City of Leesburg’s new primary representative to the Lake-Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization’s Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) replacing Bill Wiley, Community Development Director, and reappointing Mr. Wiley as an alternate.

Analysis:

The Lake Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization (LSMPO) created the Technical Advisory Committee to be made up of representatives from local governments in Lake County that are members of the LSMPO. These members are typically staff planners or engineers and advise their city’s staff on transportation issue the committee covers as well as other pertinent matters.

Community Development Director Bill Wiley has served as the primary representative for the City of Leesburg since 2007. However, with the recent staff addition of DC Maudlin to the Public Works Department as Senior Deputy Director of Public Works Department with his engineering and transportation experience and his desire to serve on the TAC, staff recommends his appointment to the TAC as the primary representative. Bill Wiley, Community Development Director, would continue to serve as the alternate member.

Options:

1. Approve the resolution appointing DC Maudlin the primary representative and Bill Wiley the alternate as the City’s TAC representatives; or

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

Fiscal Impact: 

There is no fiscal impact to the City.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA, APPOINTING DC MAUDLIN, SENIOR DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT AS PRIMARY REPRESENTATIVE AND REAPPOINTING BILL WILEY, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR, AS THE ALTERNATE REPRESENTATIVE TO THE LAKE-SUMTER METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION'S TECHINCAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE (TAC); AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

THAT the City of Leesburg hereby appoints DC Maudlin, Senior Deputy Director of the Public Works Department the new primary representative to the Lake-Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization’s Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) replacing Bill Wiley, Community Development Director, and reappointing Mr. Wiley as an alternate.

THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission of the City of Leesburg, Florida, at a regular meeting held the 27^th day of August 2012.
