Staff recommends approval to amend the current bargaining agreement with the Leesburg Firefighters, Local 2957, IAFF to include Article 49 – Working Out of Classification Pay.
Working Out of Classification
49.1 A unit employee who is temporarily assigned to a position higher than his normal job classification shall receive his/her base rate for the first 24 consecutive hours of work, and thereafter, if such assignment continues on a consecutive shift or shifts or on the employee’s next regularly scheduled shift or shifts, such employee shall be paid $1.00 per hour above his/her base rate for the hours worked in such higher classification.
49.2 No employee in his/her first six months of probation shall work out of classification as a firefighter/engineer. To be eligible to work out of classification, a probationary firefighter past the first six months of probation shall have completed his/her probationary training package found in Department SOP’s.
1. Authorize the Human Resources Director to amend the adopted December 12, 2005 adopted bargaining agreement to include Article 40 as indicated above; or
2. Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate
A unit employee, when working in a position higher than their normal job classification, will be compensated $1.00 per hour for each hour worked on a consecutive shift or shifts beyond the initial 24 hour period said employee worked in a position higher than their normal job classification.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH LEESBURG FIREFIGHTERS, LOCAL 2957, IAFF, TO AMEND THE CURRENT BARGAINING AGREEMENT TO INCLUDE ARTICLE 49: WORKING OUT OF CLASSIFICATION PAY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement with Leesburg Firefighters, Local 2957, IAFF, to amend the current bargaining agreement to include Article 49: Working Out of Classification Pay.
THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.
