AGENDA MEMORANDUM
Meeting Date: June 12, 2006
From: Jay M. Evans, Deputy City Manager
Subject: Resolution appointing a City representative to the Lake/Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization’s Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC)
Staff Recommendation:
Staff recommends approval of the resolution appointing Yvette Brandt of the City’s Community Development Department as the City of Leesburg’s representative to the Lake/Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization’s Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC).
Analysis:
On January 25, 2006 the Lake/Sumter MPO Board approved Resolution 2006-01 creating the Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC). The City needs to appoint a representative to serve on the Committee (2-year term). This can be a citizen, elected official, or staff member. The BPAC Coordinator has recommended the City appoint a staff member who is familiar with Leesburg’s trail plans.
Ms. Yvette Brandt is a Senior Planner with the City’s Community Development Department. She worked extensively on the City’s Trails Master Plan and the Florida Communities Trust Management Plan. Ms. Brandt’s knowledge of the City’s trail planning efforts makes her an ideal choice to fill this position.
Options:
1. Approve the resolution appointing Yvette Brandt as the City’s BPAC representative; or
2. Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate
Fiscal Impact:
There is no fiscal impact to the City.
