Subject:                      Resolution authorizing execution of an agreement for Leased Fiber Optic services with Lake County, Florida for Leased Fiber Optic services.

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of a rResolution authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute an agreement with Lake County, Florida, forto provide Leased Fiber Optic services from Ardyce Avenue in Eustis to 315 West Main Street in Tavares.

Analysis:

The Lake County, Florida Information Technology Department,Department wishes to connect a County facility to be located at 437 Ardyce Avenue, Eustis, FLlorida, to the Information Technology data center located at 315 W. Main St.reet, Tavares, FloridaL by using the City of Leesburg’s fiber optic network [2 pairs of fiber]. The County Commission has signed the contractagreement,  and, and the county County and city City attorney’s Attorney’s have approved the contractagreement.

Options:

1.  Approve al of the Rresolution authorizing execution of the agreement with Lake County, Florida; or,.

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

Fiscal Impact: 

Theis agreement  City of Leesburg will realizeprovide additional revenue of $469.20 per month to the City of Leesburg. The estimated cost for installation of this location is $4,000 - $5,000.00  The costs to provide the service and maintain the network are typical costs encountered in adding customers to the City’s fiber optic network.. Funds are available for this installation work in the approved Capital Improvement Plan  Installation costs (line extensions) will be paid from the capital fund (line extensions). Ongoing network support costs areis accounted for in the operating budget of the Communications Utility, and does not require additional staff or expenditures.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA FOR LEASED FIBER OPTIC SERVICE BETWEEN EUSTIS AND TAVARES; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

            THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement  with Lake County whose address is 315 West Main Street, Tavares, FloridaL 32778 for leased fiber optic service from 437 Ardyce Avenue, Eustis, FL to 315 West Main Street, Tavares, FloridaL..

 THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.
