Subject:                      Resolution establishing Official Logo Usage and Printing Guidelines for the City Logo and Symbol

 

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends adoption of the attached resolution establishing the printing and usage standards for the official logo and symbol.

Analysis:

In May 1995, the City Commission approved the use of the slogan “Leesburg the Lakefront City” that resulted from a contest among area residents.  In May 1998, the Commission selected the City logo pictured above, also from a contest among area residents.  Neither werewas adopted by Commission resolution for official use at that time.

In 1995, Husebo Advertising was commissioned to create the official guidelines for printing and use of the logo/symbol and slogan, but this those guidelines werewas never adopted by the City Commission.  It is customary for organizations to establish the standards for the use and reproduction of their official logos to maintain consistency in reproduction andtheir use.  These standards establish the official image of the organization and to provide guidance for all others who are approved towho  use these images.

Staff has been directed to establish standards for all signs that identify the City’s gateways, facilities and buildings.  Adoption of these those guidelines is contingent upon having established the official standards for the use and reproduction of the official logo and slogan.  

Options:

1.  Adopt the attached resolution; or

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate.

Fiscal Impact: 

There is no fiscal impact associated withto adopting these as the official standards.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA,  ADOPTING THE OFFICIAL LOGO USAGE & PRINTING GUIDELINES FOR THE MUNICIPAL SYMBOL THAT INCLUDES OFFICIAL TYPE STYLE AND COLORS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

 

            THAT the document titled “Logo Usage & Printing Guidelines” are hereby adopted as the official usage and printing standards for the symbol and the slogan that constitute the Official Logo.

 

             THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.
