Subject:                      Resolution accepting an equipment grant from the CEDAP program

 

 

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of the resolution accepting the award of extrication tools from the Department of Homeland Security.

 

Analysis:

The Fire Department received a grant from the Department of Homeland Security for a set of rescue extrication tools.  These tools will be used by the department for the rescue of citizens from vehicles and other situations that may require powered extrication tools. The grant is an outright award of equipment and training; therefore, no purchase or match is necessary.  The value of the equipment and training is $28,000.

 

Options:

1.  Approve the resolution accepting the award of the equipment; or

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

 

Fiscal Impact: 

The City will be required to expend funds to maintain the equipment in future years.  The actual cost of maintenance is difficult to anticipate at this time, but is considered to be minimal.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE LEESBURG FIRE DEPARTMENT TO ACCEPT AN EQUIPMENT GRANT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY’S CEDAP PROGRAM FOR ONE SET OF EXTRICATION TOOLS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

 

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

 

            THAT the Leesburg City Commission hereby authorizes the Leesburg Fire Department to accept a no match equipment grant from the Department of Homeland Security’s CEDAP Program for one set of extrication tools.

 

            THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption.

 

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission of the City of Leesburg, Florida, at a regular meeting held the 14th day of August, 2006.
