Subject:                      Resolution Approving the Fire Department to apply for a Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program (CEDAP) Grant.

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval for the Fire Department to apply for a grant for a Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program Grant, and accept the grant, if awarded.

Analysis:

The Fire Department needs an additional thermal imaging camera. This grant, if awarded, will provide a thermal imaging camera to the Leesburg Fire Department with no matching funds requirement.

Options:

1.  Approve the application for the grant and acceptance, if awarded.

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

Fiscal Impact: 

This is a direct equipment award to the City. There will be no cost to receive the equipment. There may be some minimal maintenance costs as the equipment ages.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO APPLY FOR A COMMERCIAL EQUIPMENT DIRECT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (CEDAP) GRANT FOR A THERMAL IMAGING CAMERA; AND, ACCEPT THE GRANT, IF AWARDED; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

            THAT the City Commission hereby authorizes the Fire department to apply for a grant under the Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, whose address is DHS Preparedness Directorate, Office of Grants and Training, at www.dhs.gov, for a no match award of a thermal imaging camera.

 THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission of the City of Leesburg, Florida, at a regular meeting held the 11th day of September, 2006.
