Subject:                      Resolution accepting the Tavares-Leesburg (Tav-Lee) Trail and Wildwood-Leesburg (Wild-Lee) Trail PD&E Studies

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of the resolution accepting the Tavares-Leesburg (Tav-Lee) Trail and Wildwood-Leesburg (Wild-Lee) Trail PD&E Studies as prepared by Inwood Consulting Engineers, Inc.

Analysis:

The City of Leesburg contracted with Inwood Consulting Engineers, Inc. to perform Preliminary Design & Environmental (PD&E) Studies for two segments of trail that are part of the City's overall trail master plan.  Both segment studies were included in the FDOT's work program and therefore funded in full by the FDOT.  The City provided PD&E management through the FDOT’s Local Agency Program (LAP).

The consultant has made presentations to the Commission at regularly scheduled commission meetings during the process.  No substantive changes have been made to the plan since it was presented at the July 24, 2006 City Commission Meeting. 

The final report is being presented for acceptance by the City Commission. 

Options:

1.  Approve the resolution accepting the studies as presented; or

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

Fiscal Impact: 

There is no fiscal impact as a result of this action.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG ACCEPTING THE PRELIMINARY DESIGN AND ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES FOR THE TAVARES-LEESBURG AND WILDWOOD-LEESBURG TRAILS, AS PREPARED BY INWOOD CONSULTING ENGINEERS, INC.; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

            THAT the Preliminary Design and Environmental (PD&E) studies prepared by Inwood Consulting Engineers for the Tavares-Leesburg Trail and the Wildwood-Leesburg Trail are hereby accepted and approved.

 THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.
