Subject: Resolution Authorizing an Agreement with BASS LLC to host the 2006 BASS Wildcard Tournament November 16 – 18, 2006.
Staff Recommendation:
Staff recommends approval of an agreement with BASS LLC to host the BASS Wildcard Tournament November 16 – 18, 2006.
Analysis:
Historically, the Chamber of Commerce has hosted the fishing tournaments through BASS, Crappie Masters, and Crappie USA. However, in 2006 the Chamber made a decision not to host the tournaments. Consequently, the City of Leesburg has assumed this role through the Parks & Recreation Department because of the economic impact and National exposure they bring to the area.
The 2006 BASS Wildcard Tournament, November 16 – 18, 2006 had previously been contracted with the Chamber. This contract has been revised naming the City of Leesburg as the host for the tournament.
Options:
1. Approve the resolution authorizing an agreement with BASS LLC or;
2. Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate
Fiscal Impact:
The City’s portion of the fee will not exceed $10,000. Additional support services will not exceed $5,000 and include City Staff, meals, telephone lines, portable bathrooms and security.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH BASS, LLC (BASS) TO HOST THE 2006 BASS WILDCARD TOURNAMENT NOVEMBER 16 - 18, 2006; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:
THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement with BASS , LLC (“BASS”) whose address is 200 Celebration Place, Suite 900, Celebration, FL 34747 to host the 2006 BASS Wildcard, Tournament November 16 – 18, 2006.
THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.
