Subject: Florida League of Cities Delegate

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends appointing Commissioner John Christian, the City’s Florida League of Cities representative or Commissioner David Knowles, alternate representative, to be Leesburg’s designated voting delegate at this year’s 81^st Annual Conference

Analysis:

The Florida League of Cities’ Annual Conference will be held at the Marriott World Center in Orlando, Florida on August 16-18.  This conference provides valuable educational opportunities to help Florida’s city officials serve their citizenry more effectively.  Each municipality designates one person to be its voting delegate.  Policy development, election of League leadership and adoption of resolutions are undertaken during the business meeting.  The voting delegate from each municipality will make decisions that determine the direction of the League.

Options:

1.  Appoint voting delegate; or

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate
