Subject:                      Request Appropriation of $2000 of Forfeiture Funds to Assist The Haven

Staff Recommendation:

Staff respectfully recommends the appropriation of $2,000 of Forfeiture Funds to assist The Haven,

a safe shelter for battered and abused women and their families.

Analysis:

This authorized use of mandated Forfeiture Funds will enable women and their families to be able to obtain help from The Haven with food, shelter and clothing until they are able to go out on their own.  The Haven also provides the assistance of a Victim’s Advocate to aid with legal issues.

Options:

1.  To approve the appropriation of Forfeiture Funds in the amount of $2000.

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

Fiscal Impact: 

Funding is available for this purpose and is an authorized use of Law Enforcement Trust Fund.
