Subject:                      Resolution authorizing an agreement with Siemens Water Technologies to provide a Factory Service Contract for the City’s water and wastewater SCADA Control System

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of the agreement with Siemens Water Technologies to provide service for the water and wastewater SCADA control system.

Analysis:

Siemens Water Technologies (formerly US Filter) is the sole source provider of the City’s water and wastewater SCADA Control System components.  This agreement will provide discounted monthly visits by an authorized and qualified System Engineer and a service technician.  These services are necessary to maintain the integrity of the equipment and may include instrumentation, control panels, and the SCADA/PC system.  This agreement will cover the period of July, August and September, 2007. The discounted rate for this service is $6,000.00 per month and will total $18,000.00 for the agreement term.  There may also be additional charges for parts which are not covered by the agreement

Options:

1.  Approve the agreement with Siemens Water Technologies as presented, or,

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

Fiscal Impact: 

Although funds were not specifically appropriated in the accounts reflected below, in accordance with the adopted budget policy, funding is available within the accounts listed for this purpose.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH SIEMENS WATER TECHNOLOGIES TO PROVIDE A FACTORY SERVICE CONTRACT FOR THE CITY'S WATER AND WASTEWATER SCADA CONTROL SYSTEM; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

            THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement  with Siemens Water Technologies, whose address is 1239 Willow Lake Blvd., Vadnais Heights, MN 55110, for a Factory Service Contract covering the City’s water and wastewater SCADA Control System.

 THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.
