Subject:                      Resolution authorizing execution of Task Order 29 with Boyle Engineering, Inc. for design of the Executive Boulevard 12-inch water main extension.

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends execution of Task Order 29 with Boyle Engineering, Inc. for $43,785.00.

Analysis:

The purpose of this project is to provide fire fighting and potable water service to a smaller community and airplane hanger in the south-western section of its distribution system.  This extension will tie into the existing water main on Executive Boulevard; then proceed south on Executive Boulevard and  West on Strimeos Lane to serve the private airplane hanger.  This is a portion of a western loop to the Leesburg water system that is needed to expand service to properties west of Executive Boulevard.  Because of this public benefit to our system, we have agreed to partner with the owner of the airplane hangar by providing design and permitting services.

This project is for design and permitting services only.  Construction of this extension will be coordinated and completed by the private party requesting the extension at their expense.  They will then deed over the improvement.

Execution of Task Order 29 will authorize Boyle Engineering to design the water main extension, prepare construction documents, and prepare permit applications.  This work, if approved, will be performed under the existing continuing services agreement for engineering services between the city and Boyle Engineering, Inc.

Options:

1.  Approve execution of Task Order 29 to Boyle Engineering, Inc.; or

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

Fiscal Impact: 

Funds are available for this project in the account and project listed.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE TASK ORDER 29 WITH BOYLE ENGINEERING, INC. FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE DESIGN OF THE EXECUTIVE BOULEVARD 12-INCH WATER MAIN EXTENSION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

            THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute Task Order 29  with BOYLE ENGINEERING, INC. whose address is 320 East South Street, Orlando, Florida 32801 for engineering services designing a water main extension along Executive Boulevard and Strimenos  Lane.

 THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.
