Subject:                      Resolution authorizing an Agreement for Data Transport Services with the School Board of Lake County.

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of a resolution to execute an agreement for Data Transport Services with The School Board of Lake County.

Analysis:

The School Board of Lake County has an existing contract with the City of Leesburg that expired June 30, 2007.  The City and School District continued the contract for two months on a month to month verbal agreement until the School Board approved the new agreement term at their meeting August 27, 2007. The new contract will run from September 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008. The new agreement has the same terms and conditions as the agreement approved by the City Commission February 13, 2006, by Resolution No. 7573. One additional school site has been added to the contract for the new term. Ethernet Data Transport Service will be provided to 43 sites throughout Lake County.

Options:

1.   Approve the contract with the School Board of Lake County;  or; or

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

Fiscal Impact: 

This contract is for a 10 month term beginning September 1, 2007 and ending June 30, 2008. The City  will realize revenue of $169,020.00 [$400.00 per month, per site x 42 and one site at $102. per month. Adding the one site at 400.00 per months will result in an increase in revenue of $4,800.00  compared to the current contract. The ongoing maintenance costs associated with this network are provided for in the Utility’s operating budget, using existing personel.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE SCHOOL BOARD OF LAKE COUNTY TO PROVIDE DATA TRANSPORT SERVICES FOR FORTY-THREE SCHOOL BOARD LOCATIONS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

            THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement  with THE SCHOOL BOARD OF LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA,  whose address is 201 West Burleigh Blvd., Tavares, FL 32778, for DATA TRANSPORT SERVICES.

 THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.
