Subject:                      Resolution Authorizing Execution of Task Order 1 and 2 with Jones Edmunds & Associates, Inc. for Cleanup and Maintenance of City of Leesburg Old Dump Site

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends execution of Task Order 1 and 2 with Jones Edmunds & Associates, Inc. for $37,000.00

Analysis:

After the City’s discovery of the old dump site adjacent to the Leesburg Municipal Landfill, Jones Edmunds & Associates, Inc., along with City staff and a representative of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), performed an on-site inspection of the dumpsite in order to evaluate the condition and determine the best approach for cleanup and maintenance of the area.

Jones Edmunds & Associates, Inc. has been the Engineering Firm authorized by the City to perform compliance and monitoring services for the City of Leesburg Municipal Landfill, and the Closed Landfill as required by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).

Execution of Task Orders 1 and 2 will authorize Jones Edmunds & Associates, Inc. to assist the City with planning and implementing actions to secure the old dump site.  This work, if approved, will be performed under the existing continuing services agreement for engineering services between the City and Jones Edmunds & Associates, Inc.

Options:

1.  Approve execution of Task Order No. 1 and 2 to Jones Edmunds & Associates, Inc., or;

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

Fiscal Impact: 

The total amount for Task Orders No. 1 and 2 is not to exceed $37,000.00, and was appropriated and is available for this purpose.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE TASK ORDERS NO. 1 AND NO. 2 TO THE AGREEMENT WITH JONES EDMUNDS, INC. FOR CLEANUP AND MAINTENANCE OF CITY OF LEESBURG OLD DUMP SITE.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

            THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute Task Orders No. 1 and No. 2 to the agreement with Jones Edmunds & Associates, Inc. whose address is 730 NE Waldo Road, Gainesville, Florida, 32641, for engineering services under the existing continuing services contract.

 THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.
