Subject:                      Resolution authorizing  Agreements for fiscal year 2007-08 Civic Grant funding with Leesburg Partnership, Inc., Christian Care Center, Miss Leesburg Scholarship Program, Leesburg Center for the Arts, Dabney Minatee Heritage Group, Inc., and Leesburg Cemeteries.

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends the execution of the agreements for fiscal year 2007-08 civic grant funding with Leesburg Partnership, Inc., Christian Care Center, Miss Leesburg Scholarship Program, Leesburg Center for the Arts, Dabney Minatee Heritage Group, Inc., and Leesburg Cemeteries.

Analysis:

Leesburg Partnership, Inc. requested funding of $50,000 + existing in-kind support and office.  The budget approved September 24, 2007, recommended $23,150 for fiscal year 2007-08.  The attached agreement formalizes this commitment.

Christian Care Center requested funding of $5,000.  The budget approved September 24, 2007, recommended $2,555 for fiscal year 2007-08.  The attached agreement formalizes this commitment.

Miss Leesburg Scholarship Program requested funding of $1,000.  The budget approved  September 24, 2007, recommended $640 for fiscal year 2007-08.  The attached agreement formalizes this commitment.

Leesburg Center for the Arts requested funding of $50,000 + existing in-kind support.  The budget approved September 24, 2007, recommended $17,563 for fiscal year 2007-08.  The attached agreement formalizes this commitment

Dabney Minatee Heritage Group, Inc. requested funding of $29,500.  The budget approved September 24, 2007, recommended $5,588 for fiscal year 2007-08.  The attached agreement formalizes this commitment.

Leesburg Cemeteries requested funding of $80,000 + utility credit of $7,600.  The budget approved September 24, 2007, recommended $80,000 + utility credit of $7,600 for fiscal year 2007-08.  The attached agreement formalizes this commitment.

Options:

1.  Approve the execution of the agreements between the City of Leesburg and the Leesburg Partnership, Inc., Christian Care Center, Miss Leesburg Scholarship Program, Leesburg Center for the Arts, Dabney Minatee Heritage Group, Inc., and Leesburg Cemeteries for fiscal year 2007-08 grant civic funding, or

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

Fiscal Impact: 

A total of $200,000 has been included in the approved fiscal year 2007-08 budget in account number 043-3021-533-4911 for this purpose.
