Subject:                      Resolution appointing a member to the Library Advisory Board for a five-year term

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends the appointment of a qualified applicant to the five-year term currently vacant on the Library Advisory Board in accordance with the Code of Ordinance of the City of Leesburg.

Analysis:

Ms. Juanita Jones was appointed in 2005 to fill an unexpired term. That term is now expired. The City advertised the position as required and received the attached application from Ms. Jones.  Ms. Jones has been an active participant in all of the duties of Library Advisory Board members.  She has demonstrated a commitment to the City and the Library.  Ms. Jones lives within the City service area as required by Ordinance.

Options:

1.  Appoint a qualified applicant to the vacant position on the Library Advisory Board.

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

There is no fiscal impact for this action.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA APPOINTING  JUANITA JONES AS A MEMBER OF  THE LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD FOR A TERM OF FIVE YEARS ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2012; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

            THAT the City Commission hereby appoints  Juanita Jones, whose address is 700 Village Court, Fruitland Park, Florida 34731, for membership on the City of Leesburg Library Advisory Board with term ending September 30, 2012.

 THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission of the City of Leesburg, Florida, at a regular meeting held the _22nd____ day of __October_______ 2007.
