Staff Recommendation:       

Staff recommends approval of the contract with Sungard HTE Inc. to provide redundant computer services and testing environment.

 

Analysis         

At the September 10, 2007 meeting of the City Commission, the Commission decided not to fund the leased IBM iSeries backup computer system due to limited funding availability. This was done per staff recommendation. Staff’s recommendation included contracting for remote backup services. The attached Master Services agreement and associated System Recovery Premium agreement and System Testing Environment are to provide the alternative remote backup service discussed at the September 10 meeting.

 

Options:

1.  Approve the agreements with Sungard HTE Inc. for remote backup services.

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

 

Fiscal Impact: 

The cost of the leased IBM iSeries computer system was $81,696.00 per year. The cost for the replacement remote managed backup services is $36,000.00 per year plus $2,400.00 per year for one MB of internet bandwidth to connect the remote system. The total fiscal Impact is a savings of $43,296.00 per year.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH SUNGARD HTE INC. TO PROVIDE REDUNDANT AS400 ISERIES BACKUP AND TEST SERVICES; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

 

            THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement  with Sungard HTE Inc., whose address is 1000 Business Center Drive, Lake Mary, Florida 32746, for IBM iSeries remote backup services.

 

             THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.

 

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission of the City of Leesburg, Florida, at a regular meeting held the 22nd of October, 2007.
