Subject:                      City Commission Appointment to Boards, Committees, and Organizations

The Commission makes appointments to several Committees at the Organizational Meeting each year.  Some appointments are for one year and some appointments are at the pleasure of the Commissioner making the appointment.

Listed below are the Boards, Committees, and Organizations to which Commissioners are appointed and to which Commissioners make citizen appointments.  Also listed are the meeting frequency, meeting date, time, location, Commissioners and citizens who served on each Committee last year.

Personnel Committee – 1 year -  appoint two Commissioners

      Called, as required – City Hall, Commission Chambers

            Commissioner John Christian and Commissioner Lewis Puckett appointed January 8, 2007.

Lake County League of Cities Board of Directors – 1 year – appoint one Commissioner and one alternate

Second Friday of each month – Eustis Elks Lodge-2540 Dora Avenue, Tavares plus quarterly meetings of Cities

Commissioner David Knowles appointed representative and Mayor Sanna Henderson appointed alternate January 8, 2007.

Florida League of Cities – 1 year – appoint voting representative and one alternate

Commissioner John Christian appointed representative and Commissioner David Knowles appointed alternate January 8, 2007.

Metropolitan Planning Organization – 1 year – appoint one Commissioner and one alternate

Second Wednesday of each month – Lake County Public Works Office, 123 N. Sinclair Avenue, Tavares, Florida at 2:00 p.m.

Mayor Sanna Henderson appointed representative and Commissioner Bill Polk appointed alternate January 8, 2007.

St. John’s River Water Management District Liaison – appoint one Commissioner

      Commissioner Lewis Puckett appointed January 8, 2007.

Leesburg Center for the Arts – appoint one Commissioner

      Last Thursday of month – Opera House at Noon

            Commissioner Sanna Henderson appointed January 8, 2007.

Leesburg Area Chamber of Commerce – 1 year – appoint one Commissioner

      Third Thursday each month – Opera House at Noon

            Commissioner David Knowles appointed January 8, 2007.

Leesburg Partnership – 1 year – appoint one Commissioner

      Third Thursday each month at 4:30 p.m. at Partnership Office

            Commissioner Bill Polk appointed January 8, 2007.

School Concurrency – 1 year – appoint one Commissioner and alternate

      Meetings set by Lake County as needed.

Commissioner Sanna Henderson appointed representative and Commissioner

John Christian appointed alternate January 8, 2007.

Lake County Water Alliance – 1 year – appoint one Commissioner and alternate

      Second Wednesday each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Leesburg Commission Chambers

Commissioner Bill Polk appointed representative and Commissioner Lewis Puckett  appointed alternate January 8, 2007.

Florida Municipal Electric Association – 1 year – appoint representative and alternate

      Meets 3 to 4 times per year at varied locations

Electric Director Paul Kalv appointed representative January 8, 2007 and Commissioner Bill Polk appointed alternate January 8, 2007.

Florida Municipal Power Association – 1 year – appoint representative and alternate

      Fourth Friday every other month at FMPA in Orlando – Friday at 10:00 a.m.

Electric Director Paul Kalv appointed as representative and Interim City Manager Jay Evans  appointed alternate May 14, 2007.
