Subject:                      Resolution Authorizing Execution of an Agreement with Derek Schoening d/b/a Lake Marine to provide Watercraft Repair Services

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval  of an agreement with Derek Schoening d/b/a Lake Marine to provide watercraft repair services at Leesburg Venetian Cove Marina.

Analysis:

On March 1, 2008, Paul Hatch, Paul’s Marine Services, informed staff that he will no longer be providing watercraft repair services for the Venetian Cove Marina as of April 1, 2008.  Paul’s Marine Services has been providing watercraft repair services to the Venetian Cove Marina since he signed his original lease agreement March 13, 2006. 

In order to continue providing uninterrupted and quality repair services for the patrons of Venetian Cove Marina, staff recommends Derek Schoening d/b/a Lake Marine begin providing watercraft repair services at the Venetian Cove Marina effective April 1, 2008.  Mr. Schoening has been working with Paul’s Marine Services at the Venetian Cove Marina since March 13, 2006 and is familiar with the policies and procedures set forth in the lease agreement between Paul’s Marine and the City of Leesburg.    

The lease will be for six months unless terminated earlier in accordance with the terms of the Lease.  Derek Schoening d/b/a Lake Marine shall pay rent of $400 monthly to the City of Leesburg.  All other terms and conditions are described within the attached agreement.

Options:

1.  Approve the attached resolution authorizing the execution of agreement with DerekSchoening d/b/a Lake Marine, or

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

Fiscal Impact: 

Approval of this agreement will provide revenue for the City of $2,400 for the six-month period.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LEESBURG AND DEREK SCHOENING d/b/a LAKE MARINE FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING WATERCRAFT REPAIR SERVICES FOR THE VENETIAN COVE MARINA AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

            THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement with Derek Schoening, d/b/a Lake Marine whose address is 2613 Icabod Court, Leesburg, Florida, 34748 for the purpose of providing Watercraft Repair Services for the Venetian Cove Marina.  The lease will be for six months unless  terminated earlier in accordance with the terms of this lease.  Rent of $400 shall be paid monthly to the City of Leesburg.

 THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.
