Subject:                      Resolution authorizing an agreement with Boyle Engineering for Amendment One to Task Order #25 for Final Design of the Lake Harris Water Quality Improvement Project at Venetian Gardens

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of the agreement with Boyle Engineering for Amendment One to Task Order #25 for final design of the Lake Harris Water Quality Improvements at Venetian Gardens.

Analysis:

Original design of this water quality improvement project involved re-routing stormwater through pipes under the median of West Dixie Avenue (S.R. 44).  The construction would have also required a jack and bore under the road for the outfall pipe.  Florida Department of Transportation proposed that the City of Leesburg tie into their drainage pipes along the south side of the road to eliminate the need for construction in the road.  This change to construction requires a revision in the 100% construction plans and an upgrade in the size of the second generation baffle box.

Options:

1.  Approve the agreement with Boyle Engineering for Amendment # One to Task Order #25, or,

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

Fiscal Impact: 

The original authorized amount for this project was $63,621.00.  The revised total project amount is $73,145.00, bringing the net amount of this amendment to $9,524.00.  The cost of the re-design will be offset by reduced cost of construction.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH BOYLE ENGINEERING CORPORATION FOR AMENDMENT ONE TO TASK ORDER #25 FOR FINAL DESIGN OF THE LAKE HARRIS WATER QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT AT VENETIAN GARDENS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

            THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement with Boyle Engineering Corporation whose address is 320 East South Street, Orlando, FL 32801, for Lake Harris Water Quality Improvement Project at Venetian Gardens.

 THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.
