Subject:                      Resolution authorizing FDOT Local Agency Certification Qualification Agreement Relating to Design for a Leesburg – Wildwood Trail segment

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends that the Mayor be authorized to sign the FDOT Local Agency Certification Qualification Agreement.

Analysis:

The City has acquired the necessary railroad Right-of-Way for segments of the Leesburg-Wildwood Trail system.  FDOT has agreed to provide 100% funding for the design of this trail segment.  The funding agreement is presented separately for approval.

The purpose of this Agreement is for FDOT to authorize the City of Leesburg to administer the design of this project.

Options:

1.  Approve the Agreement as presented; or,

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate.

Fiscal Impact: 

There is no direct fiscal impact related to this agreement.  Approval of this Agreement will enable the City to acquire 100% funding from FDOT for design of the Leesburg - Wildwood Trail segment under a separate agreement.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION LOCAL AGENCY CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION AGREEMENT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

            THAT the Mayor  is hereby authorized to execute the Local Agency Certification Qualification Agreement with The State of Florida Department of Transportation whose address is 719 South Woodland Boulevard, MS 4-549 DeLand, FL 32720.

 THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.
