Subject:                      Resolution authorizing an agreement with Aquatic Weed Control, Inc. for work to be performed in Flamingo Pond

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of the agreement with Aquatic Weed Control, Inc. for a total of $54,906.00 for work to be performed in Flamingo Pond.

Analysis:

Aquatic Weed Control, Inc. is to mechanically harvest all vegetation: cattails, torpedo grass, etc. for the pond known as Flamingo Pond on Flamingo Dr.  This project will improve the aesthetics of the pond as well as increasing stormwater capacity within the site.

The City has a contract in place with Aquatic Weed Control, Inc. as a result of bid LB-04-04.

Options:

1.  Approve execution of the agreement with Aquatic Weed Control, Inc.; or

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

Fiscal Impact: 

Funds are available in the current fiscal year in the account listed, Storm Water Capital Improvement under Ponds.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH AQUATIC WEED CONTROL, INC. FOR WORK TO BE PERFORMED IN FLAMINGO POND; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

            THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement with Aquatic Weed Control, Inc. whose address is P. O. Box 593258, Orlando, FL  32859, for contractor services to be performed in Flamingo Pond.

 THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.
