Subject:                      Resolution authorizing  Task Order No. 40  with Boyle Engineering for Lake Lucerne Water Quality Improvement Project engineering services

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of the agreement with Boyle Engineering for Task Order No. 40 for Lake Lucerne Water Quality Improvement engineering services for $63,017.00.

Analysis:

This project includes installation of a nutrient removing baffle box, as well as the re-work of stormwater infrastructure, including pipes and ditch bottom inlets.  The project will also provide sediment removal from Lake Lucerne as part of a lake restoration element.  This project ultimately provides water quality improvement to Lake Lucerne and Lake Harris through nutrient removal.

Options:

1.  Approve the agreement as presented; or,

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

Fiscal Impact: 

The City of Leesburg is responsible for the engineering, design and construction oversight costs for the project.  The $63,017.00 to Boyle Engineering will be used as matching funds for grants provided by Lake County Water Authority and St. Johns River Water Management District for the construction of the project.  Construction for this project is estimated to be $185,000.00.  Staff  expects construction will be fully funded by these grants.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND THE CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE TASK ORDER NUMBER 40 WITH BOYLE ENGINEERING TO PROVIDE ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE LAKE LUCERNE WATER QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

            THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute Task Order Number 40  with Boyle Engineering Corporation whose address is 320 East South Street, Orlando, FL 32801, for engineering services associated with the Lake Lucerne Water Quality Improvement Project.

 THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.
