Subject: Resolution Approving  Lake County Policy  LCC-12, Request for Reconsideration of Library Materials

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of the policy outlining the steps to be taken for patrons requesting the reconsideration of library materials as part of the library collection. 

Analysis:

LCC-12 is a companion policy to LCC-11 which outlines the Collection Development Policy previously approved by the City Commission and subsequently by the Board of County Commissioners February 3, 2009.  The LCC-12 policy is offered here as an update to the original 1993 policy which predated the development of the branch libraries. The Library Advisory Board reviewed this policy  at their regular meeting Tuesday, April 14, 2009 and voted to recommend the policy for adoption. 

Options:

1. Approve the policy as submitted

2. Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

Fiscal Impact: 

There is no fiscal impact to the City by approving  this policy.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE PATRON REQUEST FOR RECONSIDERATION OF LIBRARY MATERIALS POLICY (LCC-12) AS SET FOR BY LAKE COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

            THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement  with Board of County Commissioners whose address is P.O. Box 7800, 2401 Woodlea Road, Tavares, Florida 32778, for approval of Lake County Policy LCC-12

 THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.
