Seaplane Ramp

Project Status: In progress
Overall Project Cost: 1.25 Million
Phase: Focused Environmental Assessment
Engineer: AvCon, Inc.

The seaplane ramp will serve to increase the Airport's capacity by allowing seaplanes which are not equipped to use land-based runways and taxiways to access the Airport's full range of aviation services. Also, it will allow the Airport to service amphibian aircraft whose pilots prefer water landings over hard-surface landings. The State of Florida is only second to the State of Alaska in terms of the number of seaplanes and seaplane-certified pilots that are registered within the state. The Leesburg International Airport’s proximity to the Metro Orlando area together with the availability of US Customs services on the airfield make it an ideal "gateway" for seaplane traffic to the Central Florida region.

Airfield Lighting Upgrades

Project Status: In progress
Project Cost: 0.6 Million
Engineer: AvCon, Inc.
Contractor: H.L. Pruitt Corporation

The existing airfield wiring was installed sometime during early 1980s; thus, much of the lighting is worn and deteriorating. This project consists of the final design and construction of airfield lighting improvements. Specifically, the edge lighting will be replaced on Runway 13-31 and portions of Taxiway K. The directly buried edge lighting will be replaced with cans and conduit lighting. This project also includes conductor, conduit, duct markers, and any junction cans, ground rods, splice markers, and spare parts as necessary.

Taxiways Alpha and Kilo Partial Realignment

Project Status: In progress
Project Cost: 1.7 Million
Engineer: Hanson Professional Services, Inc.
Contractor: C.W. Roberts Contracting, Inc.

The affected portion extends between the Taxiway run-up area at the approach end of Runway 31 and the intersection of Taxiway Bravo. The realignment of Taxiway Alpha enables the Taxiway to conform to the current FAA separation standards applying to Runway 13-31 and Taxiway Alpha.

Please check for NOTAMs and plan accordingly.
