Attention Leesburg Utilities Customers

Dear Valued Customer

An error, its origin is unclear at this time, caused some of our utility customers who use our automatic bank draft payment system to be charged twice for the June payment. Only those customers that had a payment due date of June 26th, 27th and 29th were affected. Their accounts were correctly debited on the above dates but incorrectly debited again on or after the June 30th bank transmittal.

The incorrect transactions at the banks were reversed as soon as we were made aware of the error, but it is possible that the transactions could have caused a short-term deficit in your checking account.

If you were charged any fees or penalties imposed by banks or merchants that are attributable to our error, we will reimburse you. Please submit a receipt or other acceptable statement of financial loss you have incurred to the Customer Service Department. A check will be issued directly to you.

We apologize for any discomfort or inconvenience our error has caused you. We thought we had all necessary safe-guards in place, but we were wrong. We pledge to research the cause of the error and immediately implement changes to ensure that this never happens again. Please accept our apologies.

Sincerely,

Bill Pfeilsticker
Finance Director
